Situated in Somerset on the Dorset border and just 6 miles from Wiltshire The Half Moon Inn,
Horsington, near Wincanton offers comfortable en-suite bed and breakfast accommodation
in a peaceful village location.
Equidistant from the A303 and A30 the towns of Wincanton, Templecombe, Gillingham and Sherborne are
within easy reach, not to mention the neighbouring villages of South and North Cheriton, Buckhorn Weston,
Stowell, Holton and Henstridge. Our traditional style country pub serves good food and plenty of real ales
with log fires in the winter and large gardens to enjoy in the summer. We have owned the Half Moon since
1991 and we have 3 children, Vinnie the dog and Nigel the cat.
The main building dates from 1685 and was originally called 'Steppes House' and was the home of the village butcher, the original
slaughter beam is still here. The licence and name of Half Moon Inn (first recorded in 1785) transferred to Steppes House in 1860.
In about 1970 the adjoining cottage was incorporated into the main building.
